Fundación Amigos del Hospital María (FAHM) held management accountability Reporting for the year 2017

Tegucigalpa, June 7, 2018. Fundación Amigos del Hospital María (FAHM), held today year 2017 management accountability reporting to government authorities, civic representatives and private sector. Since 2015, the government assigned a yearly budget of 166 million Lempiras, to finance most of the operation and administration of Hospital María, Especialidades Pediátricas (HMEP), which is currently on its second opening phase.

As part of its responsibility and commitment, FAHM reported on the services provided and the management carried out; in order to ensure transparency in the management of funds, the proper use of resources and excellence in the quality of patient care.

FAHM authorities highlighted the work carried out, based on a comprehensive patient centered care, ensuring the protection, compliance and respect for the duties and rights of the children who daily attend Hospital María.

Since its opening in 2014, the hospital was to offer medical services in 11 sub-specialties; Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology (Hemodynamics), Dermatology, Allergy and immunology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, Nephrology, Cardiovascular Surgery and Pediatric and Urological Surgery; support services in the areas of Anesthesiology, Psychology, Nutrition, Imaging, Laboratory, Pharmacy, among others.

In this event, the projects and progress made in 2017 were highlighted; among them, the creation of Pediatric Cardiology and Nephrology Study Plans, an achievement that is aligned with the strategic planning of Hospital María.

Currently, more than 26 thousand patients have been attended, more than 668,000 services have been given, which include outpatient consultations and support services, more than 3,800 surgical procedures have been performed, including 3,174 pediatric, urological, reconstructive and other surgeries, 15 kidney transplants (in conjunction with Hospital Escuela Universitario, 81 neurosurgeries, 436 heart surgeries, among other procedures.

Finally, Hospital María practice of continuous improvement featured, by means of a detailed patient-oriented processes, comprehensive patient management programs, teaching and research programs to support Honduras in the development of human talent and comprehensive information systems that facilitate the work of our physicians.
