The María Hospital, Pediatric Specialties receives patients affected by COVID-19, after coordinating the space available by the authorized evaluation centers.

Tegucigalpa, March 2019.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, and to support the National Network Public Hospitals, we are now attending children and adults suspected or diagnosed with COVID-19 patients, with limited capacity for hospitalization and Intensive Care; there are no outpatient treatment programs for adults.

Care to these patients has been structured and coordinated with both, Ministry of Health and Tegucigalpa´s Public Hospitals Network, and it is only through these hospitals and 911 that patient referrals will be accepted by Hospital Maria.

Care for COVID-19 patients is categorized as follows:

Adult Care (18 years and older).

There is no triage area for adults. Therefore, they should go to the triage center closest to their home to receive timely care. If hospitalization is required, the treating physician should contact the hospital to confirm available capacity.

Pediatric Care (Under 18 years of age)

If your child has COVID-19 symptoms, the hospital provides evaluation, and hospitalization, if needed.  If the minor has been in contact with people who are positive for COVID-19, but does not present any symptoms, he (she) should be kept isolated and transferred to a triage center only if he (she) develops any symptoms.

Remember that emergency evaluation at Hospital María is exclusively for children with COVID-19 symptoms. In case your child has other symptoms, or another illness, you should take your child to the nearest emergency room in your community.

We kindly request to follow bio-safety guidelines, wearing a mask at all times, social distance and wash your hands frequently.
