Fundacion Amigos del Hospital Maria presents its 2019 Management Accountability Report to Government Authorities and Civil Society via a virtual platform.

Tegucigalpa, December 4, 2020. Fundacion Amigos del Hospital Maria (FAHM), presented today to government authorities, civil society and media, for the fifth consecutive year, its Accountability Report. Due to COVID-19 Pandemic, the presentation was made virtually through the Zoom platform. Hospital Officials reported the use of the budget assigned to the hospital, by the Ministry of Health in the amount of 178 million Lempiras, for the year 2019. All the funds are destined to the operation and administration of Hospital María, Especialidades Pediatricas(HMEP). 

Ensuring transparency, accountability and efficiency in the administration of the budget assigned as well as donations received, are Key Pillars to continue providing patient centered medical attention to the children who daily attend the hospital. 

Jacqueline Flefil, FAMH’s General Manager, said: “Each of our institutions values is reflected in the care we provide to each patient”. She also stated “the funds assigned for the hospital´s operation and management, are efficiently and honestly used”. She also mentioned the need to raise additional funds in order to continue with this project.

“We are very proud of the progress made by our Medical team in our 11 different specialties, as well as the success of our first Medical Conference held in early 2019. This was an important contribution to the medical community, since various doctors covered content related to our pediatric specialties”. Shared Dr. Karla Fernandez, HMEP´s Medical Director.

A brief summary was presented to the audience on the care provided to COVID- 19 patients. The hospital was one of the designated institutions to treat pediatric and adult patients suspected or diagnosed with COVID-19. 

Finally, FAHM’s emphasized their commitment for continuous improvement of the services offered.
