Little Hearts
From January 28 to 30, María Hospital, Pediatric Specialties, successfully conducted a Cochlear Implant Medical Mission, reaffirming its commitment to providing specialized care and opportunities for holistic development to Honduran children.
During the day, 12 patients were evaluated and underwent surgery; of these, 6 received cochlear implants, a highly complex procedure that significantly improves hearing and promotes language development, communication, and social integration.
This initiative represents a new opportunity for children with severe or profound hearing loss to enjoy a better quality of life, expanding their opportunities for learning, interaction, and future development.
The brigade was made possible thanks to the joint efforts of the Otolaryngology team at María Hospital, national specialists, and the invaluable support of healthcare professionals from Spain, who contributed their experience, knowledge, and dedication to serving our patients.
